A Ten-Minute Riverside Walk to KL’s Historic Mosque

Masjid Jamed (Jamed Mosque, Sultan Abdul Samad Jamek Mosque) is located at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak rivers.

Masjid Jamek (Jamek Mosque) is one of Kuala Lumpur’s oldest and most iconic mosques, built in 1909 at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak rivers. Its architecture blends Moorish, Mughal, and Indo‑Saracenic styles, with striking domes and minarets that have anchored the city’s heritage district for more than a century. Today, it remains a place of worship and a cultural landmark, surrounded by colonial‑era buildings and riverside walkways that highlight KL’s historic core.

It takes less than ten minutes to walk from LRT Pasar Seni station to Masjid Jamek, the oldest mosque in Kuala Lumpur. Along the scenic riverside path, you'll pass Central Market and rows of colonial-era buildings.

Directions

Exit the LRT Pasar Seni station through Exit D.
Head straight to the stairs and go down to the ground level — the Klang River will be on your left.
Continue straight to the main road and cross at the yellow crossing.
Walk straight toward your left, along the Klang Riverside walkway.
After about three minutes, at the next main road (Leboh Pasar Besar), cross the road and continue straight along the riverside walkway on the left.
In another two minutes, you’ll arrive at Masjid Jamek (Jamek Mosque).
The entire walk takes about ten minutes, with scenic views along the river.

Exit through Exit D and head straight to the stairs.

LRT Pasar Seni Station.

Go down to the ground level and head straight.

Head straight to the main road.

The walkway leading to Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock, the main road.

Cross the road and follow the riverside path on your left.

The blue Central Market stands across the main road.

The iconic Kompleks Dayabumi building standing on the left bank of the Klang River.

Cross the road and you'll see Jamek Mosque right in front, between Klang and Gombak rivers.
