A 7‑Minute Walk to the Heart of KL’s Riverside Renewal

Masjid Jamek Sultan Abdul Samad, the oldest mosque in Kuala Lumpur.

Destination: River of Life (Heritage Core)

The River of Life is a city‑wide project revitalizing the Klang and Gombak rivers. This guide takes you to its most celebrated section — the confluence near Masjid Jamek, framed by Sultan Abdul Samad Building and Merdeka Square. Here, heritage landmarks meet modern riverside design, making it the symbolic heart of the project.

 

Directions

1. Exit LRT Pasar Seni Station through Exit D.

2. Head straight and go down the staircase to the ground level.

3. Walk straight ahead — the Klang River will be on your left.

4. The River of Life begins here.

5. Continue straight to the main road and cross carefully.

   • The blue Central Market building will be on your right.

6. Head straight to the left, along the open riverside walkway.

7. Walk for about two minutes.

8. Cross the road, Leboh Pasar Besar.

9. Arrive at the heritage core:

   • Masjid Jamek (Jamek Mosque)

   • Sultan Abdul Samad Building

   • Merdeka Square nearby

🕒 Journey time: ~7 minutes.

Exit the station through Exit D and head straight to the staircase.

Begin your journey at LRT Pasar Seni station and make your way east into the vibrant streets of Chinatown on the right. 

As you stroll north, keep the Klang River to your left. You'll soon discover the bustling Central Market, the historic Sultan Abdul Samad Jamek Mosque, the magnificent Sultan Abdul Samad Building, and Independence Square.

Head straight to the main road.

Cross the road and head straight to the left along the Klang Riverside walkway.

The blue Central Market building is on your right.

Head straight along the riverside walkway.

You've reached the hearf of the River of Life. Take your time to explore both sides of the river.
