LRT Masjid Jamek to Tugu Negara

Walking Guide: From LRT Masjid Jamek to Tugu Negara

A 25‑Minute Walk to Malaysia’s National Monument

Tugu Negara, Kuala Lumpur.

Destination

Tugu Negara (National Monument) is a powerful symbol of Malaysia’s struggle for freedom, honoring those who sacrificed their lives during the fight for independence. Designed by American sculptor Felix de Weldon and unveiled in 1966, the bronze sculpture depicts seven soldiers representing unity, strength, and sacrifice.

Surrounded by landscaped gardens and a serene reflecting pool, the monument sits near the Perdana Botanical Gardens, making it both a historical landmark and a peaceful retreat.

From Masjid Jamek LRT station, the walk takes you through the city’s civic district before arriving at this site of national pride and remembrance.
